Belarus, one of the Belt and Road's many supporters, is home to one of the initiative's largest and most symbolic projects – Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park. Located near the capital city of Minsk, the park is set to generate considerable revenue for Belarus, and is just one aspect of China and Belarus' cooperative relationship.
At a recent meeting with Chinese journalists, Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko said “it has been 25 years since Belarus and China established diplomatic ties. We refer to this relationship as an 'all-weather' friendship. Both sides support each other on key issues, sharing common ground in many aspects of international affairs. We have made great achievements both politically and economically."
Lukashenko noted that, against the backdrop of global political uncertainty, Belarus and China have established firm and reliable relations. He added that both sides have set up a comprehensive strategic partnership and a mutually beneficial cooperation relationship. The president also noted that the bilateral relationship had risen to new heights over the past 25 years.
According to CGTN’s Xie Zhao, Lukashenko spoke of the many joint-venture programs in the energy and infrastructure sectors that have been carried out, adding that Belarus attaches great importance to the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park, which is one of the Belt and Road initiative's most symbolic projects. Lukashenko hopes the park will attract more high-tech enterprises to relocate to Belarus.
"The Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park is an example of how China is reshaping the global economic landscape. It is built in Belarus. We have established large industrial parks, attracting some of the world's most advanced companies. It is estimated that the park's production exports will generate 50 billion US dollars for Belarus.” Lukashenko said.
Lukashenko concluded by saying that Belarus and China should further expand their cooperation, and that he is looking forward to more achievements by the two sides.
