At least two Chinese tourists, including a 10-year-old boy, were killed and 24 others injured after a tour bus overturned in Thailand, the Chinese embassy in Thailand reported.

The incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, when the bus carrying 32 Chinese tourists failed to slow down after approaching a curve on a downhill road.

The bus was headed to a hotel at Patong Beach, a popular tourist resort.

Among the injured, six are still being treated in four hospitals while the others have been discharged.

An initial investigation suggests that brake failure caused the incident.

The bus driver has been detained by police for further questioning.

A similar accident happened at Patong Hill on June 30, when a tour bus carrying Chinese tourists crashed into a concrete wall at the foot of the hill, leaving one person dead and 26 injured.
