Dulha Singh, an 8-year-old boy from Amritsar, northwest India, was born with an unusual patch of hair on his lower back. That has led people to believe he is an incarnation of the divine monkey Hanuman. /VCG Photo
The hairy tail has brought the boy both fame and frustration. As word spread, people traveled hundreds of miles to seek blessings by touching his tail. However, Dulha has been bullied by children in the village who call him names. /VCG Photo
But he has a big heart, just like Hanuman himself. /VCG Photo
“People come to see me everyday. They want my blessings. I don’t know the reason but they think I am like Hanuman,” the boy told his visitors, “I don’t feel bad about having a tail. If it’s from God, let it be there. People respect me for having a tail. Some kids used to make fun of my tail. They are not my friends and do not tease me anymore.” /VCG Photo
According to Dulha’s uncle Sahib, the boy’s mother once decided to cut the tail but she died before doing so. The family then decided to let the boy keep it, believing that cutting it off might bring bad luck. /VCG Photo
Dulha now lives with his uncle and aunt. /VCG Photo
