At least three people were injured, including a 14-year-old teenager, after a gunman opened fire near a metro stop in the French city of Lille late on Friday, local media reported.
Witnesses said they heard at least five shots during the incident that took place near the Porte d’ Arras metro station in the south of the city, according to regional daily newspaper La Voix du nord.
Anti-terrorism police were sent to the scene, however initial reports suggested the shooting is a case of settling accounts.
“A car pulled up outside the station and targeted the three youths. It appears this was a settling of scores,” an unnamed police source was quoted as saying. The attacker is believed to be at large.
Since the end of February, at least five cases of shooting, most of which related to drug deals and territorial conflicts between gangs, have been reported in Lille.
