The United States has announced it's suspending up to 900 million US dollars of security assistance to Pakistan. A State Department spokesperson said this is because Pakistan has failed to take decisive action against militants.
HEATHER NAUERT US STATE DEPARTMENT SPOKESPERSON "We are suspending security assistance only to Pakistan at this time. Until the Pakistani government takes decisive action against groups including the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani network, we consider them to be destabilizing the region and also targeting US personnel."
Earlier this week, President Donald Trump accused Pakistan of playing US leaders for fools. Pakistan has rejected the accusations. It says it has made great sacrifices to fight extremism, and has eradicated militant safe havens. Pakistan said economic data shows the US had brought Pakistan direct and indirect losses of over 123 billion US dollars -- almost 90 billion dollars more than the aid it received.
