The US Treasury Department has released a list of Russian officials and business leaders eligible for sanctions. The list includes senior members in Vladimir Putin's administration, as well as business people that Washington considers "oligarchs" close to the Russian president. The list, which does not trigger sanctions right away, is under an American law which is designed to punish Moscow for its alleged meddling in the 2016 US presidential election. Under the same law, the Trump administration has so far declined to impose new sanctions against companies and foreign countries for dealings with Russian arms companies.
