Following one month of quarantine, Giant panda Nuan Nuan has made her public debut in her new habitat in Dujiangyan, in southwest China's Sichuan Province, after she returned from Malaysia on November 15.
Nuan Nuan was born on August 18, 2015 in the National Zoo of Malaysia. She is the first child of Fu Wa and Feng Yi – who were leased to the southeastern Asian country in 2013 to mark 40 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Her appearance attracted a number of fans. The breeders from her birthplace also sent their best wishes via videos.
Upon her arrival, the two-year-old panda was granted an ID card – the first ever for a giant panda. Considered ambassadors for friendship, more and more giant pandas are being leased to different countries for scientific research purposes. According to the agreements, pandas born overseas have to be sent back to China at around two years old.
