Following talks this weekend, the IOC decided to allow the DPRK to attend this year's Winter Games.
The country will send 22 athletes to compete in five sports: Figure Skating, Short Track Speed Skating, Cross-Country Skiing, Alpine Skiing, and the joint Women's Ice Hockey team. This will also be the first time in Olympic history that South Korea and the DPRK have formed a unified team, competing using the three-letter code "COR".
The IOC approved for delegations from both countries to march together at the Opening Ceremony under the name of "Korea". Two athletes, one from each side, will hold the Korean Unification Flag and wear the joint-team uniform. 24 DPRK officials and 21 media representatives will also be given official passes for the Games.
