A court in Bangladesh has sentenced opposition leader and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia to five years in jail on a graft charge.
The court awarded 10-year sentences each to Zia's son -- Bangladesh Nationalist Party senior vice president Tarique Rahman -- and four aides. The graft case was filed in July 2008. It accused the six defendants of embezzling money meant for an orphanage. Zia had pleaded not guilty, blaming the case on political vendettas.
