Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called for a halt to US-South Korea joint military exercises on the Korean Peninsula, while also calling for the DPRK to stop its nuclear program in order to calm tensions in the region.

Minister Wang made this remark at a joint press conference with his German counterpart Sigmar Gabriel. He said the security situation on the Peninsula is very fragile at the moment and a new conflict could break out anytime. Wang urged all parties to refrain from any actions or words that could lead to new provocations, and to restart talks as soon as possible.
