In the Philippines, tens of thousands of residents near the erupting Mayon volcano are on high alert. Mud from the side of the volcano is flowing into a river that runs through nearby villages. Heavy rain caused a landslide that blocked a portion of the national highway in the volcano-affected area. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has urged residents to be cautious as heavy rains continue. Mount Mayon experienced a lava fountain eruption 4 times on Sunday, and has continued to show signs of activity.
