Two more suspects have been arrested during raids on Saturday in connection with the Manchester Arena suicide bombing that killed 22 people, reported AFP citing British police.

The arrests of the two men, aged 20 and 22, bring the number of suspects held in custody to 11 over Monday's attack, for which the extremist group ISIL has claimed responsibility.

The police used a controlled explosion to gain entry to the address in the north of the city where the arrests were made.

While Britain's most senior counter-terrorism officer said police were confident over the "immense" progress, extra armed officers will be on duty across the country with security stepped up at some 1,300 events over the long holiday weekend.

Britain remains on its highest threat level of "critical", meaning an attack is considered imminent.
