For those visiting Hong Kong for the very first time, "Mm goi" (pronounced mm guy) is a word you would want to remember. At a café, "Mm goi" will come in handy to signal waiters for a cup of "Yuen Yeung," coffee with tea, or any other beverage. On the street, "Mm goi" is a polite way to start your sentence if seeking help from a stranger or an "Ah Sir," a police officer.
These are some of the many catchy words in Cantonese you would hear around Hong Kong. Others include, but are definitely not limited to “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Big Bay Area” and “Hong Kong floaters”.
