We move to the NBA where the two worst teams in the league squared off. The last placed team in the West, the Los Angeles Lakers were on a nine game losing streak and what better way to avoid tying their franchise record for consecutive losses than by hosting the worst team in the East, the Atlanta Hawks. The Lakers would get a boost by the return of rookie playmaker Lonzo Ball, and Brandon Ingram would lead the Purple and Gold in points.
The Hawks take the early lead, and after Ingram gets the high scoop to fall while being fouled, LA would trail by five.
Kyle Kuzma shows his speed and fancy footwork to put the Lakers up 29-27.
And when Jordan Clarkson finds Ball for the treble, the Lake show are up by 13.
Brook Lopez who had four of the Lakers 13 steals, dishes to Ingram for the jam and two of his team-high 20 points.
With six and a half minutes left in the third quarter, Kent Bazemore reduces Atlanta's deficit to 19 points.
Early in the fourth quarter, Ball connects with Larry Nance Jr for the alley-oop.
Ball would finish with 13 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds including that dunk and the Lakers go on to win 132-113 and celebrate like it's the Finals.
In other games, Josh Richardson's lay-up with five seconds left lifted Miami over Utah, Kristaps Porzingis scored 29 points in New York's win over Dallas, Russell Westbrook's second straight triple double wasn't enough to get OKC past Phoenix, and CJ McCollum hit a floater with 5.9 seconds left to give Portland a victory over San Antonio.
