In Kazakhstan, authorities say a bus caught fire and killed at least 52 of its passengers on Thursday morning.
According to the country's interior ministry, there were 57 people on board. Five managed to escape the burning vehicle and received medical assistance. The passengers were from neighboring Uzbekistan. The vehicle was registered in Kazakhstan. The ministry said the vehicle is a Hungarian-made Ikarus. These buses are still widely used in ex-Soviet nations, despite being decades old.
