The wreckage of South Korea's ill-fated Sewol Ferry has been successfully hauled onto a giant heavy lifting ship. The 6,800-ton vessel was loaded onto a semi-submersible at 4:10 a.m. on Saturday.
The Sewol Ferry sank on April 16, 2014, in waters off South Korea's southwestern coast near Jindo Island, taking 304 passengers' lives, most of whom were students. The disaster was one of the worst maritime accidents in South Korea's history. Nine missing passengers' bodies are believed to be inside the ship.
Relatives of some of the victims are watching the salvage operation from the sidelines. High school teacher Yang Seung-jin is among the list of missing. His widow Yoo Baek-hyung hopes her husband's remains can be found.
