A section of a salt lake in north China’s Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province, known as China’s “Dead Sea”, has taken on a blood red color due to algae. /CFP Photo

Rising temperatures and light intensity has caused organisms in the water called dunaliella salinas to turn red. /CFP Photo

And the lake’s striking color is even more pronounced thanks to a road that splits it in two – the other, unaffected half, remains green. /CFP Photo

Some web users have compared the lake to the two-flavor hotpot, in which the pot is split down the middle and filled with two different kinds of broth. /CFP Photo
