Sanchi Collision: China trying to clean up after sunken Iranian oil tanker
[]
China is still trying to remove nearly two-thousand tonnes of bunker fuel -- the heavy oil used in ship engines -- from the sunken Iranian oil tanker in the East China Sea. The transport ministry said that if the fuel was not cleaned up, it could pollute the local environment. It's been almost a month since the Sanchi collision which resulted in one of the worst ever oil tanker spillages. Vessels from China, Japan and South Korea are involved in the clean-up effort which covers more than 200 nautical miles.
