Staying in the Middle East -- Turkey has launched new strikes against Kurdish forces in northern Syria.
Ankara confirmed it launched similar strikes Friday. Turkey calls it "self-defense" and a response to fire coming from the Kurdish-controlled province of Afrin. Turkey has long accused the Y-P-G of being the Syrian offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers Party - a group Ankara and its western allies consider terrorists.
