US wants to participate in Belt and Road projects, says top envoy

The United States wants to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative, Matt Pottinger, Special Assistant to US President Donald Trump said at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing, which concluded on Monday. 
“US firms have a long and successful track record in global infrastructure development, and are ready to participate in Belt and Road projects,” Pottinger, who is also Senior Director for Asia at the US National Security Council, said.  
He also announced plans to create an American “Belt and Road Working Group” with US companies, and stressed the importance of transparency during the bidding process for initiative projects, in order to provide better chances for companies that aren’t state-owned.
