Sanchi Oil Tanker Rescue: Expert: Fire and high temperatures hamper rescue efforts
[]
Earlier we spoke with a rescue expert who explained that the burning condensate on the vessel, is generating toxic fumes. High temperatures have also kept rescue workers from carrying out their tasks in an effective way.
HE WANG HUADE PETROCHEMICAL COMPANY "So many people risked their lives to rescue the ship. One is to save the crew based on the principle of life first, the second is to prevent further leakage of oil. It's so hard to carry out rescue work at sea. 89 degrees celsius is a high temperature that rescue workers cannot endure for long time. They need to wear a full set of protective gear which is really heavy. They cannot stay inside for a long time. So, we need to further check the temperature of other cabins on the ship."
