Footage has emerged of a truck hitting the central reservation of a highway in China, spilling hundreds, possibly thousands, of chicks onto the road. 

The footage taken by the highway's surveillance cameras in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on May 12, shows the vehicle colliding with the central crash barrier and flipping onto its side. 

In the aftermath of the accident, rescue workers can be seen scooping dozens of chicks at a time with shovels. According to local reports, the driver was injured but is now recovering. It's not known how many of the chicks were killed, but the video suggests many survived.
