Cities around the world ushered in 2018 with a bang! The UK welcomed the New Year with fireworks around the capital's iconic London Eye ferris wheel over the River Thames. Earlier New Zealand was one of the first countries to ring in 2018. As the clock struck midnight in Auckland, multi-colored fireworks exploded from the Sky Tower. The city's nightscape was illuminated by brilliant lights.  In Australia, in a nod to the recent yes vote on marriage equality, a special rainbow-colored fireworks' display blossomed over the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
