Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has been branded with labels such as mysterious, isolated, underdeveloped, and conflicted.
Western media organizations often focus on terrorism and unrest. China’s domestic media describes it as fast-growing and harmonious, as well as one of the most beautiful places in the world. Watch the video above to reveal the many true pictures of Xinjiang. Themes include protecting tradition amid modernization, the place of Islam in China and economic ties on the New Silk Road, as well as guardians of nature, and local people’s own ways of living and pursuing their dreams.
