The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has said one of its officials from the US was killed and two more were injured by a landmine blast in eastern Ukraine on Sunday morning.
Alexander Hug, the deputy head of the OSCE’s Special Monitoring Group in the country, said the American was with colleagues from Germany and the Czech Republic when their vehicle drove over a landmine in the city of Luhansk. Hug called on all sides in the conflict to “remove all mines and explosive devices” from the Donbass region.
Luhansk separatists earlier released a video blaming the Ukrainian government for the blast. The two sides have been fighting in eastern Ukraine since 2014 in a war that's claimed close to 10,000 lives.
