Cambodian prime minister wraps up fruitful trip to China

China has agreed to provide a fresh loan to Cambodia to help improve infrastructure and will import 300,000 tons of Cambodian rice in the next year, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen told media following a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Tuesday.

Hun Sen, who has been in China since Saturday and attended the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing on Sunday and Monday, said Cambodia would strengthen economic cooperation with China, especially under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
He also revealed that Li Keqiang will visit Cambodia next year, which marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia.

China and Cambodia have maintained a good relationship for years. Cambodia has backed China in its territorial disputes in the South China Sea, including the arbitration case brought by the Philippines last year, Hun Sen noted.
He was scheduled to fly back to Cambodia on Wednesday after having lunch with President Xi Jinping.
