Speaking on other issues in Asia, President Trump noted the fight against ISIL in Syria and Iraq. He said nearly all the territory once held by the extremists has been retaken. Unlike his two predecessors who forecast victory for US forces in Afghanistan, Trump said the US military is no longer undermined by artificial timelines. The president also took the chance to ask Congress to address the fundamental flaws in the Iran nuclear deal.
