The rockets were believed to have been fired from Syrian Kurdish YPG militia from rebel-held Afrin in Syria, located to the northeast of Reyhanli. 82 rockets have hit the Turkish border towns of Kilis and Reyhanli since the start of Turkey's operation against Syrian Kurdish YPG militia in Afrin. Turkey launched the air and ground offensive, dubbed "Operation Olive Branch", nearly two weeks ago, aiming to wipe out Kurdish fighters near its southern border.
