US President Donald Trump has issued a fresh warning to the DPRK, as speculation mounts that Pyongyang may be readying another nuclear or missile test. Trump has repeatedly said he will prevent the DPRK from developing a nuclear-tipped missile capable of reaching the US.
Trump's comments came as the US military on Thursday dropped the biggest non-nuclear bomb it possesses on Afghanistan, targeting a complex used by ISIL, in the latest move seen as an indication that the army is not afraid to use force after the attack on a Syrian air base with Tomahawk missiles.
In response to Trump's warning, the DPRK said the US was to blame for the escalating tensions on the Korean Peninsula. The country’s Vice Foreign Minister, Han Song Ryol said “It's not the DPRK, but the US which makes problems. A nuclear test is something that our supreme headquarters will decide. At a time and at a place that the supreme headquarters deems necessary, it will take place.”
