A top American diplomat says a large US delegation at the Singapore Air Show is doing everything it can to encourage Southeast Asian governments to buy American-made arms like the F-35 fighter jet.
She also says the US navy will continue with what she called "freedom of navigation" actions in the South China Sea. China's Foreign Ministry responded today. Now take a listen.
GENG SHUANG CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTRY SPOKESPERSON "China has always respected the freedom of navigation and flights in accordance with international law. However, we resolutely oppose any country threatening the security and sovereignty of a coastal nation. Currently, there is no problem with freedom of flight over the South China Sea. However, there are some who are seeking to create trouble out of nothing. Someone from the US side has connected freedom of navigation in the South China Sea with the promotion of their own weapons. Their purpose is clear."
