The International Olympic Committee on Tuesday wrapped up an inspection visit of Paris, which is one of the cities bidding for the 2024 Summer Games.
"We are delighted, Paris 2024 is delighted to have spent these three days with the IOC Evaluation Commission. Everything went really well - they were three very, very strong days for the project. It's the start of the final stretch. We are aware that the Evaluation Commission's compulsory visit was an essential visit, it concludes long months of work on technical aspects and the final stretch will be especially interesting,” said Tony Estanguet, co-president of the Paris Bid Committee.
The only other city still bidding for the 2024 games is Los Angeles. Unusually, the IOC has suggested that the runner up might be awarded the 2028 Summer Games. If so, it would be the first time ever that two separate Olympic venues are announced at the same time. The commission will publish reports on the two cities in July, with the awarding ceremony to take place in September.
