Belgian authorities say the ousted Catalan leader can stay in Belgium for three months. Previously, Carles Puigdemont said he was considering running - from Brussels - in the upcoming Catalonia elections. The deposed leader and four of his former cabinet members are facing European arrest warrants after being charged with rebellion and sedition in Spain. None of them have complied with the summons from the Spanish court.
Puigdemont and his ex-ministers flew to Brussels after Madrid sacked him and his cabinet following the regional parliament's declaration of independence.
