Ahead of Sunday' final round of voting in the French presidential election, freelance reporter Stefan de Vries shared his views on the two candidates' priorities for France's economic development.
De Vries identified unemployment and economic growth as the key factors. France is almost the only EU country in which the unemployment rate is still going up, he said, and growth is slower than many other EU nations.
The two candidates have different approaches toward the problems. Marine Le Pen embraces nationalism, vowing to bring factories back to France to protect French workers. In contrast, Emmanuel Macron thinks international trade is the solution and he believes France should head further toward EU integration.
