Israel-Palestine Tensions: PLO makes move towards suspending recognition of Israel
[]
The Palestine Liberation Organisation says it will set up a committee to study the process of suspending its recognition of Israel.
In a statement released after a three-hour meeting, the PLO's executive body said the committee would draw up plans to end political, administrative, economic and security coordination with Israel. Last month, the Palestinian Central Council called for an end to recognition of Israel until it recognizes the state of Palestine. Despite the announcement, Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah is set to meet Israel's finance minister, the first meeting at that level since the controversial US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
