The dance drama “Winter of Peacock”, starring 59-year-old Chinese dancer Yang Liping, is being staged from April 20 to 22 at Tianjin Auditorium.
The drama looks deeply into metempsychosis, the transformation of life at death into another form of life.

“I am about to be 60 years old. At my age, it is natural to face aging and death. However, lives are recurring. New seeds sprout in spring again after winter,” said Yang in an interview by China News Service.
The rules of life are like nature. She hopes when facing aging and death, people can take it as part of nature and not something to fear. That’s a motif of the drama.

“(I hope) people do not canonize me and expect a forever-young Yang Liping, which is unrealistic. I will face aging and death, too.” said Yang on Saturday in Tianjin. “Dancing is a wonderful thing to me, which cannot be confined at a stage in a theater. The largest stage is in my heart.”
In 1986, Yang created and played the dance "Spirit of the Peacock", which enjoyed great popularity due to her ethereal beauty.
