From October 1 to 8, around 710 million trips will be made, with national tourism revenue reaching about 90 billion U.S. dollars, all increasing from last year.

Popular destinations in China include the Capital Beijing, Sanya in the southern province of Hainan, Kunming in the southwest's Yunnan province, as well as northwest China's city of Lanzhou in Gansu.

More than 16 percent are likely to choose to spend their holidays overseas. China is developing tourism into a major driver of economy. The country plans to raise tourism revenue to more than 1 trillion dollars by 2020.
