The Night Before Christmas: Tourists throng Santa's hometown in Finland
[]
Heavy snow has turned Santa Claus' hometown in Finland into a winter wonderland. And before Santa sets off on his sleigh to deliver Christmas gifts. The town of Rovaniemi is packed with kids eager to meet the jolly old man.
Santa has certainly had a busy few weeks! After responding to the half a million letters he receives each year from children, Santa takes off to deliver rewards on Christmas Eve to those who've been "good". Although the myth of Father Christmas is steeped in tradition, he's actually quite the modern man. His trip is powered by renewable reindeers to ensure it's carbon footprint free. Santa's hometown Rovaniemi has attracted 160,000 tourists this year, most of them from Asia.
