Here in China, the men's Under 23 national team will be seeking their second win in the AFC Under-23 Championship after beating Oman 3-0 in the opening match. The PRC are now preparing for Uzbekistan on Friday before they take on Qatar on Monday.
The victory over Oman also marked the first win for China in the biennial continental tournament since its inauguration in 2014.
That earned the starters a chance to relax in the swimming pool while the rest of the squad were on the pitch where new coach Massimiliano Maddaloni put them through their paces.
The injured Deng Hanwen and Zhang Yuning have been practicing with the team.
China is in Group A with Qatar, Uzbekistan, and Oman. The 16-team tournament began on Tuesday and will run to January 27th with four cities in Jiangsu province hosting matches. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals, and the final will be held in Changzhou.
