China’s Su Bingtian broke his own Asian record in the men's 60-meter sprint, crossing the line in 6.43 seconds during his victory at the final of the IAAF World Indoor Tour event in Dusseldorf, Germany, on Tuesday.
The previous Asian record was also set by Su, who clocked 6.47 seconds at last week’s IAAF World Indoor Tour competition in Karlsruhe, Germany.
The latest victory is the Chinese sprinter’s third of the season, after claiming his first victory in Berlin on Jan. 26, where he initially broke the continental mark he had shared with Tosin Ogunode of Qatar, by finishing in 6.55 seconds.

Su got off to a great start in Dusseldorf, and battled American Michael Rodgers for the lead. The Chinese athlete was able to outpace the US sprinter and powered home in a time of 6.43 seconds, both a new Asian record, and a new mark for the meet. Spain's Yunier Perez nipped Rodgers for the second place.
After the race, Su posed by the scoreboard displaying his new record. His effort is also tied for the fifth-fastest all-time mark in the distance.
At the 2015 World Championships in Beijing, Su reached the final of the 100m with a time of 9.99 seconds in his semi-final, to become the first ever sub-10-second Chinese in men’s 100m.
And also at the 2017 IAAF World Indoor Tour in Shanghai, Su collected the victory of men’s 100 meters to become the first Chinese to win the IAAF men’s 100 meters.
