President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech entitled "Work Together to Build a Community of Shared Future for Mankind" on January 18 in the Palace of Nations, the headquarter of the UN’s office in Geneva. He put forward China’s vision of building the community for intentional society in his speech.
This speech reflects the fact that scientific and technological progress has made the world a global village, and globalization has made the world a community. So each country should work together to build and improve the Community. This is the right choice for them, including China.

The UN as the core of the current international system is the base for building the Community. Great powers in international society have more responsibility to create the community for mankind and they should maintain authority of the UN and abide by the charter of the UN. China is not only a vocal supporter of the UN, but a main capital contributor and main provider of the UN peacekeeping operation personnel.
In 2016, China was the third largest provider -- US provided 22 percent, Japan 9.68 percent and China 7.92 percent -- to the UN total working capital fund. From 2016 to 2018, China will be the second largest contributor of the UN peacekeeping fund and the first in providing the UN peacekeeping operation personnel in the five permanent members of the UN Security Council. China is also the main driver of the Paris agreement.

China has always been the main supporter of the UN and will support the UN continually; it is the main driver of the community building. China advocates the way to set up the community which is based on equality and mutual benefit and advocates mutual security, mutual development and a harmony between humanity and nature. Besides the UN, China has set up other international regimes to build the community, such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and  the One Belt, One Road Initiative. However, they are useful supplements of current international system with the UN as the core.
The rise of great nation depends on its strength and ideal. Until now, China has relative sufficient power to support its road to success. President Xi’s speech made clear once again to international society that China’s development will neither hurt nor threaten anyone. Even if China’s strength surpassed the United States, it will never follow the footsteps of Western powers which sought hegemony once they grew strong. China’s ideal is the "China’s dream," which means that Chinese people will make other nations live better if they have a good life.
