Japan has unveiled its official mascots for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. The duo won more than 100 thousand votes, making them the favorites against the other two sets in the final round of competition. Around 6 million primary school students across the country reviewed the works and cast their votes. The final three sets were selected from more than 2-thousand works by the public. The winner said his mascots are a pair of very good friends, who have opposite personalities but respect each other. He said they embody the harmony between tradition and innovation in the country. Home to Hello Kitty and Pokemon, Japan has literally thousands of mascots, representing everything from small communities to prisons.
