Yang Jing, a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, state councilor and also secretary-general of the State Council, is under investigation on suspicion of serious disciplinary violations, China's top anti-graft body CCDI announced on Saturday.
Yang had severely violated political discipline and rules, while taking advantage of his posts to carry out illegal activities and seeking huge profits for others. His relatives had accepted properties from others, Xinhua reported.
Administrative sanctions with demotion have been imposed on Yang, who is now on a one-year probation within the Party.
The Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC) approved on Saturday to remove Yang as state councilor and the secretary-general of the State Council.
