An art teacher in northwest China's Gansu Province has replicated the landmarks of Lanzhou on a whiteboard to help his students appreciate the beauty of the city and connect more with the local culture.
It took Li Jianchuan around 40 minutes to turn the white surface of the board into a stunning piece of art where the elements that make Lanzhou famous, from the sheepskin rafts to the Zhongshan Bridge over the Yellow River, could be seen.
Li, who has been teaching for 33 years, said he wanted to bring a local flavor to his class.
"As the saying goes, local people and culture are shaped by the land that raised them. What I painted on the whiteboard (..) are all characteristics of Lanzhou," he noted.
"I think his teaching style is special. He inspires us to imagine our hometown in Lanzhou," said one student.
For Li, drawing helps not only to learn the art form, but also to understand and appreciate the culture.
