"China has always vigorously promoted a regional free trade pact in the Asia-Pacific that is open, inclusive and beneficial to all," Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Thursday.
Wang made the remarks at a press conference in Beijing on the sidelines of the first session of the 13th National People's Congress, answering questions on China's foreign policy and external relations.
China will work with regional countries to push for an early conclusion of the negotiations on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) in an effort to open a new chapter in Asia-Pacific cooperation.
The RCEP is a proposed free trade agreement between the 10 member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the six countries with which ASEAN has existing free trade agreements - Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand.
