Five people were killed and 89 hospitalized after an explosion hit northeast China's Jilin Province on Tuesday.
The explosion occurred at around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, when workers were repairing a section of a leaking gas pipeline caused by road construction work in Songyuan city.
As of 3:55 a.m. on Wednesday, five people had died and 89 were hospitalized, 14 of whom are in a critical condition, according to local officials.
An investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.
