The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) is sending athletes as well as an art troupe as part of its delegation to the 2018 Winter Olympics.
The art troupe is scheduled to perform in the Republic of Korea (ROK). The contingent arrived via ferry at a port on the host country’s east coast on Tuesday.
It left the vessel docked at the Mukho Port later in the day after security concerns were shrugged off.
Thousands of security personnel were assigned to the area when the DPRK ferry arrived. Under escort of South Korean police, five buses taking the performers left the port about three hours after the group’s arrival. The vessel will serve as a hotel at Mukho during their stay.

A group of South Koreans held a protest demonstration against the troupe’s arrival. Some were carrying pictures of DPRK leader Kim Jong Un marked with “X”.
Led by Moranbong Band leader Hyong Song Wol, the DPRK performers are scheduled to perform in Gangneung on Thursday, and Seoul on Sunday.
The troupe consists of members from several major bands in the DPRK, including the all-female Moranbong Band, the Mansudae Art Troupe, and the State Merited Chorus.
