After defending his title in Melbourne on Sunday, Roger Federer became the first man to win 20 majors.
The Swiss became the third man after Roy Emerson and Novak Djokovic to claim six Australian Open titles by beating Croatia's Marin Cilic, 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
Although Federer just won one major title in Wimbledon in the six years from 2011 to 2016, it doesn't mean anything. Federer has won two titles out of the three most recent Grand Slams, and now owned 20 major titles.

In addition to his six Australian Open titles, Federer’s Grand Slam résumé includes a record eight-time champion at Wimbledon, and five for the US Open where he is tied with Jimmy Connors and Pete Sampras. He also won the only French Open trophy by beating Robin Soderling in 2009.

The 36-year-old Swiss is the first man to win 20 Grand Slam titles to lead Rafael Nadal with 16, and American legend Pete Sampras with 14. Meanwhile, Novak Djokoivc has 12, tied with Roy Emerson of Australia, who won 12 Grand Slams before the Open era.
In addition, he’s only the fourth player, male or female, to have won 20 or more Grand slam singles titles (Margaret Court won 24, Serena Williams has 23 so far and Steffi Graf got 22).
