Chinese navy commissions new frigate

A new 054A model frigate was commissioned by Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy in the northeast China city of Dalian on Thursday.

The new type of missile frigate was given the name Wuhu and the pennant number 539.

The Wuhu, a 4,000-tonne domestically designed and produced vessel, was built in Shanghai, and measures 134 meters in length and 16 meters in width.

The vessel can carry out missions on its own or cooperating with other navy vessels in coordinated combat.
