The world is making progress in achieving the United Nations Development Goals but needs to act faster according to Jeffrey Sachs, a Colombia professor, economist, and special adviser to the UN Secretary General. He shared his view on how U.S trade partners should act in the face of the Trump administration's new tariffs.
JEFFREY SACHS, PROFESSOR COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY "I think it's very important for China and Europe to insist on WTO rules and processes. We have global rules. We spend a long time negotiating them and agree on them. The US can not act unilaterally against those rules."
CHENG LEI CGTN SENIOR REPORTER "And instead of the tariffs and threats, you have some prescriptions for the US economy in your building the new US economy book, tell us more about that."
JEFFREY SACHS, PROFESSOR COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY "The U.S. economy in the whole has done quite well."
