The European Court of Justice (ECJ) on Wednesday upheld the European Union's decision to put the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas on its terrorism blacklist.
The EU's top court overturned a 2014 ruling by the bloc's second highest court which said the EU had insufficient evidence to maintain asset freezes and travel bans on Hamas.
In response, the ECJ said on Wednesday that a decision by a competent authority was
only required for an initial listing, with no such condition for subsequent
retention.
